The Sarasota County Archers (SCA) is a self maintained and self funded not for
profit archery club comprised of persons that shoot traditional and/or compound
bows. Some shoot just for the enjoyment of target shooting, while others like to
increase their skills for hunting. We are always looking for new archers.
SCA is
located on approximately 10 wooded acres. From the moment you enter the
property, you will notice that preserving the natural surroundings is of great
importance. SCA is a designated wildlife preserve, therefore no animals on the
range property are harmed in any way. Unless of course you count the swatting of
an occasional mosquito or two.
The first building you see is a lighted 20 yard
indoor range, a 20 yard lighted outdoor range and another lighted outdoor range
with targets set at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 yards. There are also 3
separate trails. The first has 14 bull's-eye targets with varied shooting
distances. The second has 14 animal (paper) targets with varied shooting
distances. The third is used for 3D targets. All three of these are set along
wooded paths.
Club meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each
month. A work party is held at 9:00 a.m. on the Saturday following the club
meeting. Work parties are where members perform maintenance and improvements on
the club grounds, structures and targets.
Remember, it's your club, we cannot do it without you.
